BURGESS HILL is a town and an ecclesiastical parish formed in 1865, comprising the civil parishes of Clayton and Keymer and includes the populous district of St. John's Common, with a station on the direct Brighton line of the London and Brighton railway, 10 miles north from Brighton, 4 south from Cuckfield and 42 from London
